6th Grade Young Choz Place 3rd in AAU Nationals

Coach Al and Coach Oscar have quietly led our 6th grade team into the national spot light. After winning the Under Amour Showcase in Atlanta our Young Choz entered the AAU Nationals ready to surprise everyone.

In pool play our Young Choz dominated their opponents. First taking on Georgia’s Choice Management Knights (56-26) and then Florida’s Gulf Broward Sharks (76-44), you would think they got noticed. But Florida’s Brevard Bulls weren’t paying attention so they got a (59-41) beat down.   After going 3-0 in pool play you would thing the Gauchos would be noticed.

In bracket play our Young Choz faced Tennessee’s Memphis War Eagles, they weren’t paying attention either as they got a 68-39 wake up call. In the second round the Florida Gulf’s Night Rydas Elite did pay attention but it didn’t help as they went down 54-45. In the 3rd round of bracket play Florida’s Team Florida Prospects were ready for the fight of their life. They knew they were playing a New York Gauchos team that was there on business. They provide enough fire power to squeeze out a 55-59 win over our Young Choz.

With pride and determination Coach Al and Coach O got our Young Choz back on line as they Took on Team Wall of North Carolina. After the smoke had cleared our angry Young Choz had taken out the previous loss on Team Wall with a 61-37 old-fashioned whipping and a third place finish.

My apologies to this good young team for just posting this article, they are no longer a surprise to the nation or us. Get ready world the 7th grade Gaucho team is one of the best in the country.
